Senior Engineer w/Zoox Inc. (Foster City, CA)
Work across all aspects of the vehicle body, including the body-in-white structures, crash structures, underbody, surface technologies, and the integration of these systems into a brand-new vehicle architecture. Ensure successful delivery of systems and assemblies, from conception through to start of production. Manage the delivery of the body structure (body-in-black) for the Zoox L5 Vehicle program, including managing target delivery. Define requirements and specifications of body systems to achieve best in class performance in structural, weight, NVH, and crash performance. Establish body structure system architecture and undertake feasibility and prototype testing of novel body solutions. Conceptualize, design, engineering, release, develop, and launch body systems and components. Validate performance of body systems and engage and inform the studio engineering process from the point of view of body systems. Support material and manufacturing process decisions and ensure design release and validation. Develop processes, procedures, and best practices for Body design and development. Utilize Catia V6 design and Jira. International and Domestic travel required. 3-6 times per year.
Requires 6 years of experience in a Design Engineer, Senior Engineer, Concept Engineer or related Engineer position working on the body/structure of automobiles. Experience must include the following: designing various components in the body department including, C-rings and crossmembers; using CAD software to create both 3D models and 2D drawings; developing robust solutions from concept through to production; using CAD to make 3D models with complex surfacing; developing structural hardware having requirements of stiffness and strength; working with injection molding, steel forming and compression molding (carbon fiber); and utilizing Catia V6 design and Jira.
